Affordable 1-Bedrooms Starting at $834 Up For Grabs in Bushwick/BedStuy

BUSHWICK — Score a one-bedroom apartment for as low as $834 in a brand new apartment building with outdoor space, a computer lounge, 24-hour security and a laundry room, right next to the J and Z train Chauncey Street stop.

Applications are now open for 27 one, two and three-bedroom apartments that run up to $1,163 a month for families that have as many as six members. The apartments are located in two different buildings at 1677 Broadway and nearby at 8 Rockaway Ave., according to the city's affordable housing lottery Housing Connect.

The buildings will also contain dozens of units of supportive housing.

While the affordable apartments that are open to all New Yorkers who qualify based on their annual salary, 78 apartments in the buildings are slated to provide supportive housing to formerly homeless families and individuals and others with special needs.

There will be on-site social services and 24-hour security, according to the city.

Once both buildings are completed there will be 134 apartments in total with and additional 29 affordable apartments slated to come online.

The building is being funded through different city grants including the Low-Income Affordable Marketplace Program (LAMP) and Supportive Housing Loan Program (SHLP).

A one-bedroom apartment in the building costs $834 a month for one and two-person homes. Single people applying are eligible if they earn between $29,966 and $38,100 a year, while couples can make up to $43,500 to qualify.

Twenty two-bedroom apartments are available for $1,009 a month for two to four-person homes with a combined annual income between $36,000 and $54,360.

Six three-bedroom apartment will rent out to three to six-person homes earning between $41,280 and $63,060 annually. They'll cost $1,163 a month. 

The buildings have bike storage, a community rooms and are close to B7, B20, B60, Q24 bus routes. 

Services for the Underserved and Alembic Community Development are constructing the building, according to the city.

You can apply to live there through the city's Housing Connect lottery system. Applications are due on Oct. 25.
