Woman Abused Ex-Boyfriend's Jack Russell Terrier, DA Says

By Nicholas Rizzi | August 23, 2016 11:45am

SOUTH BEACH — A woman abused her ex-boyfriend's Jack Russell Terrier after she violated an order of protection by showing up at his home at nearly 3 a.m., prosecutors said.

Officer Philip Alfano told prosecutors that Rachel Rodriguez, 35, yelled and banged on the door of her ex-boyfriend's Father Capodanno Boulevard home at about 2:49 a.m. on Thursday until she was let in.

While inside, Rodriguez pushed him several times then grabbed the dog's leash and yanked on it, causing the dog to fly into the air and land on her back, authorities said.

Rodriguez grabbed the dog on her head and neck and squeezed tightly until she was stopped by police, according to the criminal complaint.

She was arrested and charged with attempted torturing and injuring animals and criminal contempt at her arraignment, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.

Rodriguez was arrested in February, charged with assault and had an order of protection issued against her, according to court papers.

For her latest arrest, her bail was set at $500 and she's due back in court on Aug. 23, according to online court records.

Her lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
