CLAREMONT — The body of a woman killed by her boyfriend after a violent argument is missing, though he has confessed to her murder, authorities said.

Miguel Bonilla, 44, was charged with stabbing his girlfriend Juana Alvarez, 53, multiple times after the two got into a violent dispute, police said.

Police are unsure of the exact date of Alvarez's death, but she was reported missing on Aug. 9, and on Monday, a friend of Bonilla's came into the 44th Precinct and said his friend had told him that he murdered his girlfriend, according to law enforcement.

Video surveillance shows Alvarez going into her and Bonilla's building at 1460 Grand Concourse and Bonilla coming out a few days later with a shopping cart that appears to be dripping blood and a heavy looking object in a bag, sources said.

Police arrested Bonilla around 5 p.m. on Monday for jumping a turnstile by Eighth Avenue and 34th Street in Manhattan, and he later confessed to murdering Alvarez, officials said.

Bonilla, who has 25 prior arrests, put her body in a dumpster outside of the building, where it was likely picked up by the Department of Sanitation or a private company, according to law enforcement sources. Her body has still not been found.

Bonilla had not yet been arraigned as of late Tuesday afternoon.
