ASTORIA — A thief shot a man in the shoulder during a robbery in Queens last week, snatching a gold chain from the victim's neck before taking off in a nearby car, the NYPD said.

The gunman approached the 29-year-old victim from behind on 37th Avenue and 33rd Street around 4 a.m. on Aug. 15, pulled out a gun and demanded his property, police said.

The suspect then snatched a gold chain from around the man's neck and shot him once in the left shoulder before fleeing south on 33rd Street, where he hopped into a SUV and took off, police said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital in stable condition, according to police.

The suspect is described as a man between 25 and 30 years old, standing roughly 6 feet tall and weighing 170 to 180 pounds, police said. He was wearing a dark shirt, black sweatpants and glasses.

The getaway car was a white Jeep Grand Cherokee with black rims, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
