VIDEO: Bullets Fired from Car in Fatal Shooting Send Bystanders Scattering

By Eddie Small | August 22, 2016 12:21pm

CLAREMONT VILLAGE — Newly released video from a South Bronx homicide shows people frantically scattering as bullets fly out of a passing Lincoln Town Car.

The shooting took place on Wednesday around 9:20 p.m., when a Lincoln Town Car drove by 1375 College Ave., and one or more people fired multiple shots into a crowd, fatally hitting 17-year-old Dontay Gordon in the chest, police said.

Durand Gordon Sr., the victim's father, said the attack on his son had been completely random and that he was not the intended target of the gunfire.

"Dontay was a very, a very well-loved person in the neighborhood, and he was an aspiring rapper," he said. "He was into his music."

His son was a breakdancer as well and was only in the neighborhood where the shooting took place because his friend who he danced with lives there, he said.

A 21-year-old man was hit in stomach during the shooting as well and taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical but stable condition, according to the NYPD.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
