CHELSEA — A Chinese burger chain that tops its patties with Sriracha , pickled daikon, hoisin sauce and other Asian-inspired ingredients is opening its second U.S. outpost in Chelsea.
Beijing-based Uncle Sam’s Burgers, which has its flagship restaurant in Midtown, is bringing a second location to 143 Eighth Ave., at the corner of West 17th Street, in late September, the restaurant said in a release.
The two-story outpost will serve up items including the “Uncle Sam’s Signature Burger” with caramelized onions, havarti cheese and chipotle mayo; a kosher beef chili dog topped with “Chinese-style barbecue bacon,” scallions, pepper jack cheese and Sichuan chili; and a rice bowl with pickled daikon, Napa cabbage slaw and oyster sauce.
Before Uncle Sam’s opened its Fifth Avenue flagship last year, a broker representing the chain told The Real Deal the restaurant was “meant to be competitive level with Shake Shack.”
The chain is aiming to “redefine American classics,” it added in the release.
