STATEN ISLAND — A pedestrian died after he was hit by a livery cab near the Staten Island Expressway Wednesday morning, police said.

Emergency responders found the unidentified man in his 30s lying in the crosswalk at Narrows Road North and Clove Road at about 4:50 a.m., according to police.

The man had been crossing from the north side to the south side of Narrows Road North when he was hit by a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria driving westbound toward Clove Road, police said.

The victim was transported to Staten Island University North Hospital where he later died, said police.

The driver, who remained on the scene, was not arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
