LOWER EAST SIDE — Police are looking for a knife-wielding thief who robbed a straphanger on the D train on the night of July 12.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, had boarded a northbound D train and was nearing Grand Street around 10:20 p.m. when the suspect approached him, pulled a knife, and demanded he hand over his cash, police said.

The victim gave $20 in cash to the suspect, who got off the train at Grand Street and fled in an unknown direction, according to authorities.

Police have released a photo of the suspect, described as a man around 25 years old, standing at 5-foot-10, with brown eyes, short black hair. He was last seen wearing a gray and blue jacket, khaki pants, and sunglasses.
