TIMES SQUARE — Police are searching for a pair of attackers who punched a man and sprayed him in the face with an unknown substance while he was waiting for a train, the NYPD said.

The 36-year-old man was waiting for a northbound 2 train on a platform inside the Times Square subway station at West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue around 4:30 a.m. on July 30 when a man and a woman started verbally harassing him, police said.

At some point during the incident, the two started punching the 36-year-old, and sprayed him in the face with an “unknown substance,” the NYPD said.

The victim’s eyes were irritated, and he was left with scratches on his hands, police said.
