Police Searching for Suspect in Manhattan Valley Shooting, NYPD Says

MANHATTAN — Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting that left a man wounded in Manhattan Valley.

Niiamarte Cintron allegedly shot a 44-year-old man at a playground near 865 Amsterdam Ave., at West 102nd Street, on Aug. 5 at 9:48 p.m., police said.

The NYPD said a witness saw a man come into the playground and sit on a bench before getting up, pulling out a gun and firing two shots, hitting the victim in the neck and chest. 

The victim was inside the playground when emergency responders arrived at the scene. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

Police released a photo of Cintron, describing him as 45 years old, standing 5-foot-6 and weighing 180 pounds.
