WILLIAMSBURG — An argument between two men spiraled violently out of control when one used a tire iron to bash the other over the head, fracturing his skull, according to police.

Security camera footage captured the attacker — last seen wearing a red T-shirt and sneakers, a long ponytail, a backwards black baseball cap and a gold chain — toting a tire iron outside Rosemary's Greenpoint Tavern at 188 Bedford Ave. just before 8 p.m. on Aug. 4, police said.

He and the 33-year-old victim had been arguing, though police didn't release any further details about what started the fight. Police said the suspect grabbed the tire iron from a nearby car and used it to hit the victim over the head.

Emergency responders rushed the 33-year-old to Bellevue Hospital, police said, while the assailant fled on foot.

A worker reached at Rosemary's Greenpoint Tavern said they hadn't heard anything about the attack, which police said had unfurled on their doorstep.

"I asked the regulars. These old cats, they know everything. We truly had no idea," said Christa, who declined to give her last name. "I work happy hour the next day...I came in and it was business as usual."

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
