CHELSEA — You won’t get a diploma — but you could get a free rodent-resistant trash can.

A “Rat Academy” hosted by Councilman Corey Johnson and the city’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will teach locals plagued by the critters how to keep them at bay.

“Conducted by knowledgeable experts with practical field experience, this training will provide a better understanding of the biology, behavior and habit of rodents, contributing factors to infestation and effective ways of evaluating site-specific responses and strategies,” Johnson’s office said in a release.

Attendees will also be able to enter a raffle to win one of 30 rodent-resistant trash cans, the release said.

This year’s Rat Academy is the second rodent-centric training session Johnson has organized in response to the “uptick in rodent complaints” his office receives during the summer months, a spokesman said.

The training will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., inside Room 101 at the LGBT Community Center, 208 W. 13th St., between Seventh and Greenwich avenues.
