WEST VILLAGE — A 60-year-old man was punched in the forehead while waiting for the downtown 1 train at Christopher Street by a 20-year-old man who stole his wallet from his shirt pocket, police said.
Police said the younger man was with another person when he approached the older man in the train station about 3:45 a.m. on Aug 7.
The 20-year-old punched the older man in the face, then took his wallet from his left breast pocket, police said.
The 20-year-old was arrested and charged with felony robbery in the second degree. He is being held at Rikers Island on $7,500 bail and is due back in court on Aug. 12. His attorney did not immediately respond to a voicemail seeking comment.
It’s unclear if the second person was also arrested.
