LOWER MANHATTAN — Fewer cars, but more fun, will fill the narrow streets of Lower Manhattan this Saturday.

The city's first-ever "Shared Streets" — a day-long event that limits car traffic while encouraging pedestrians and cyclists to roam free in a 60-square-block swath of FiDi — announced its lineup of free cultural programming.

Some highlights include a walking tour of the historic neighborhood, a NYC trivia competition, games, pop-up art booths, and free music performances.

The event, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will curtail car traffic through NYPD checkpoints and reduce the speed limit to 5 mph — likely a welcome respite in the often congested roadways in FiDi. Below is a map of some of the day's events:

Shared Streets dovetails with the city's annual "Summer Streets" event, which shuts down all car traffic on nearly seven miles of city streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to 72nd Street between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., on the first three Saturdays in August, and offers a variety of family-friendly activities.
