World Chess Championship on Its Way to South Street Seaport

SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — The World Chess Championship has made its move.

The international tournament announced this week that it has settled on the South Street Seaport, specifically the Fulton Market Building, for its 2016 title tournament.

This will be the first time since 1995 that the chess battle will be played in New York City, the New York Times reported.

The games are set to begin on Nov. 11 and run through Nov. 30.

The current champion 25-year-old Magnus Carlsen from Norway will face off against Russian player Sergey Karjakin, 26. Carlsen is the game's highest ranked player in history, 

The grand prize for the competition is more than $1 million.
