LOWER EAST SIDE — An 82-year-old man was knocked down the steps of his building on Sunday when a woman forcefully snatched a valuable gold and jade necklace from his neck, police said.

The victim was entering his building at 210 Rivington St. around 5 p.m. when the suspect approached the man and grabbed the necklace from around his neck, causing him to fall down the steps leading to the building, according to authorities.

The tumble left the victim with bruises and swelling behind his left arm, shoulder and ribs, police said.

The necklace is gold with a jade pendant and is worth roughly $2,100, according to a police report.

The suspect, who fled down Pitt Street towards the Samuel Gompers Houses, is described as standing 5-foot-3 and weighing roughly 120 pounds, according to authorities.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
