CHELSEA — Tekserve loyalists can take home a piece of the decades-old store in Chelsea before it closes next week.

The computer-service center will be selling off early-model computers from its “Mac Museum,” vintage radios and typewriters, its 5-cent Coca-Cola machine and other items from around the store at an auction on Aug. 23, Roland Auctions NY said in a release.

The center will also auction off its neon “Tekserve” sign that hangs on its storefront, a vintage phone booth and “a larger-than-life blue robot that accompanied Tekserve to trade shows,” Jan Albert, Tekserve co-founder Dick Demenus’ wife, told Jeremiah’s Vanishing New York.

“This nearly 500 lot auction celebrates the legacy of a nationally acclaimed and unique New York City institution,” the auction firm’s release said.

“Apple computer aficionados, technology collectors and dedicated patrons alike will vie for some familiar (and many never before seen) items from the store’s permanent collection."

Tekserve's vice president of sales and services confirmed the store’s closure at the end of June, citing the changing technology landscape and increased rents as contributing factors.

The auction will kick off at 11 a.m. on Aug. 23 at Tekserve, 119 W. 23rd St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues.

Prospective buyers will be able to see the auction’s “highlights” at the store on Aug. 20 and Aug. 22, the release said.
