MOTT HAVEN — A Bronx father was fatally shot in the head outside of his home on Monday night, police and family members said.

Jaquan Lawrence, 31, was found in front of 165 St. Ann's Ave. around 11:45 p.m. on Monday with at least three gunshot wounds, one to his head, and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the NYPD.

There have been no arrests yet, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Vershall Munlin, Lawrence's 21-year-old cousin, said she shared an apartment with him and was in the elevator on Monday night when she heard gunshots.

"There were, like, 10 of them, I swear," she said. "Then I came out of the building, and he was laying there."

Munlin said she did not know why someone would want to kill her cousin, who she described as having a good sense of humor and being a great father to his young son.

"He's a good dad to his kid, and he's funny," she said.

Roberta Sanders, 70, said she had known Lawrence since he was a child, and he was always very polite and respectful to her.

"He never did anything to me," she said. "He'd always say, 'Hi Miss Roberta. How are you feeling?'"

Princella Thomas, who has also known Lawrence for years, said his son would have a very hard time dealing with the news.

"It's going to be devastating for him," she said, "because he's had a really close bond with his father."
