GREENWICH VILLAGE — Two men beat another man's face so badly on Bleecker Street last month that the attack left him permanently disfigured, police said.

Police said the two suspects, ages 21 and 22, got into an argument with the 22-year-old victim before the fight escalated around 4:12 a.m. on July 29 in front of 169 Bleecker St.

The two assailants punched the victim in the face until he fell to the ground and then continued to punch his face after he didn't get up, police said.

The victim was taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village with a gash above his eye that an emergency room doctor told police required numerous stitches and would permanently disfigure him, the NYPD said.

The alleged assailants were charged with felony assault with intent to cause serious physical injury. An arraignment judge set bail for each of them at $5,000 bond or $2,500 cash.

The 22-year-old paid his bail in cash at arraignment, but the 21-year-old is still being held.

They are both due back in court on Oct. 19.

Neither of the defendants' lawyers immediately responded to messages left for comment.
