Man Kicked Out of Wine Bar Grabs NYPD Officer's Collar: NYPD

GREENWICH VILLAGE — A man kicked out of a Greenwich Village wine bar grabbed the shirt collar of an officer who was writing him a summons for threatening a bartender, police said.

Police said the 35-year-old man was removed from Bar Veloce at 146 West Houston St. about 12:30 a.m. on July 28 after initially refusing to leave.

The man only left after officers arrived on the scene, police said, but stayed on the sidewalk screaming at bar staff and patrons and threatening to hurt the bartender.

"F--- these guys," the man screamed, according to police. "I'm going to f--- that bartender. F--- this bar. F--- that bartender. He just didn't want to fight me."

When an officer tried to issue the man a summons for disorderly conduct, he grabbed the officer's shirt collar and yanked the officer toward him and continued to yell, police said.

The man was arrested and charged with misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration and issued a violation for harassment in the second degree for making physical contact with the police officer.

An arraignment judge released him without bail and he's due back in court on Sept. 29. His defense attorney did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
