Score a $896 Two-Bedroom Apartment in Central Harlem

HARLEM — Applications are being taken for 53 affordable housing units in Central Harlem.

New Yorkers could score a studio apartment for as low as $492-a-month, a one-bedroom apartment for as a low as $532 and a two-bedroom for as low as $896 at Strivers Plaza, a newly-constructed eight-story complex at 275 W. 140th St.

There are 15 studio apartments, 12 one-bedrooms and 26 two-bedrooms available.

One studio is going for $494, two are available for $641 and 12 other studios are priced at $1,589. A one-bedroom is $532, another $690 and 10 others are $1,997.

Six of the two-bedroom apartments are renting for $836 and 20 of the two-bedroom apartments are renting for $2,405.

The apartments are available to households making between $18,275 and $158,550 per year.

The complex is being built through the Department of Housing Preservation and Development's Low Income Rental Program and the Housing Development Corporation's Low-Income Affordable Marketplace Program.

A percentage of units is being set aside for eligible city employees, existing residents of Manhattan Community Board 10's catchment area and applicants with mobility, vision or hearing disabilities.

Gas is included in the rent. There is no application fee and no broker’s fee.

Prospective tenants can apply online at nyc.gov/housingconnect or through mail by sending a self-addressed envelope to Strivers Plaza, 87-14 116th Street, Richmond Hill, NY 11418.

Applications for the apartments opened on July 25 and are due by Sept. 23. They will be selected for review via lottery after the deadline.
