SOUNDVIEW — An elderly couple was tied up and robbed at gunpoint in their own bedroom by three robbers, according to the NYPD.

The couple was asleep at their home near Evergreen Avenue and Wheeler Avenue early Wednesday morning, when three men broke in at about 3 a.m. armed with a gun, the NYPD said.

The men bound the couple by the wrists with zip ties and wrapped their hands and eyes with duct tape, the police said.

The men asked the couple "Where's the money?" and the couple replied that it was in the bank, according to law enforcement sources.

The robbers then searched the home and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones and credit cards, police said.

The couple declined medical attention. Police did not have any additional information about the victims.

Police released security camera footage of three suspects and requested the public's help identifying the men.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
