Man Turns Himself in to Police After Stabbing Woman Near Fordham, Police

THE BRONX — A man who stabbed a woman multiple times near Fordham University turned himself in to police officers assigned to the Staten Island Ferry Tuesday, nine days after the attack, sources said.

Ali Kaid, 35, of Belmont, ran up behind a 32-year-old woman about 10:30 a.m. on July 24 across the street from 2458 Webster Ave. and stabbed her three times in the back, police said.

The attack appeared to be random as Kaid had no relationship to the victim, according to a police spokesman.

The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

Then, Kaid walked up to police assigned to the Staten Island Ferry and told them he thought he was the suspect of a crime, sources said.

The officers took him up to the 48th Precinct, where he was formally charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.

He had not been arraigned as of Wednesday evening, court records show.
