BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A new bar serving 32-ounce Budweisers for $5 is opening its doors this week at the former space of Bed-Stuy favorite Do or Dine.

Do or Dive, the latest outpost from the owners of Williamsburg’s Lucky Dog, Skinny Dennis and Rocka Rolla, is set to debut Thursday night at 1108 Bedford Ave. near Quincy Street.

The 800-square-foot bar will offer affordable drinks, said co-owner Brenden Jones, with beers ranging between $4 and $6 and cocktails up to $8.

Options include a Bird Dog peach whiskey with Twisted Tea and the “Bad Dad” cocktail, which mixes grape Pedialyte with well vodka, as first reported by Brokelyn.

Despite initial pushback from some local residents, the business received approval for its liquor license from the State Liquor Authority.

Do or Dive’s interior has an “Americana, classic old bar” vibe, Jones said, with elements from the owners’ Williamsburg businesses.

“The idea is just to be friendly and comfortable,” he added.

Partners in the project include Salvatore Fristensky, William Mackin, Roni Dotan and Steven Pandolfi, who will be managing the bar.

Retro beer signs decorate the Bedford Avenue space with a jukebox towards the back, and vintage TVs will play “Jeopardy” every weeknight, according to Jones.

The bar seats about 30 people, along with booths and tables in the front, and the owners hope to open the backyard in the future.

The business will keep Do or Dine’s original awning with some slight modifications — heavy duty black tape transformed the sign’s “N” into a “V,” with the word “Restaurant” crossed out.

Do or Dive opens Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. with an open bar until 10 p.m, and will be open daily from noon through 4 a.m.
