YORKVILLE — A 30-story apartment tower with a basketball court and yoga studio is planned for the corner of East 80th Street and Second Avenue, records show.
Developer Icon Realty Group filed plans for the new building at 1538-1546 Second Ave. on Monday, including 63 apartments in a variety of sizes and wide range of amenities and retail on the ground floor, according to the plans.
The lot was previously home to a row of townhouses with local restaurants including Nancy Lee's Pig Heaven, Cascabel Taqueria and Johnny Foxes before they were demolished last August.
Amenities in the new tower will include a basketball court, a yoga studio, a gym, a children's play room, a game room, a party room, a lounge and storage, plans show.
The SLCE Architects firm is designing the building.
Icon Realty Management purchased the properties, along with another parcel of buildings one block north at 1562-1564 Second Ave. for $44.8 million over the past seven years, public records show.
The developer had also filed plans with the city to build a 14-story residential building at 1562-1564, but the DOB disapproved the plan and Icon later withdrew it.
Icon and SLCE did not immediately return calls for comment on Tuesday.
