Score a $494 Studio Apartment in the South Bronx

HIGHBRIDGE — A total of 57 new affordable apartments are coming up for grabs in the South Bronx, with rents starting as low as $494 per month.

The units are available at the Summit Ridge development in Highbridge at 950 Summit Ave. and available to households making between $18,275 and $63,060 per year.

Two studio apartments are available for $494 per month, while six are available for $788 per month, and four one-bedrooms are available for $532 per month, while 16 are available for $847 per month.

The complex is also offering five two-bedroom apartments at $647 per month and 18 at $1,025 per month, and it is offering one three-bedroom apartment at $745 per month and five three bedrooms at $1,182 per month as well.

The complex is being built through the Department of Housing Preservation and Development's Low Income Rental Program and the Housing Development Corporation's Low-Income Affordable Marketplace Program, and a percentage of units are being set aside for eligible city employees, residents of Bronx Community Board 4, and applicants with mobility, vision or hearing disabilities.

Prospective tenants can apply online at nyc.gov/housingconnect or through the mail by sending a self-addressed envelope to Summit Ridge, 87-14 116th St., Richmond Hill, NY 11418.

Applications for the apartments opened on Aug. 3 and are due by Oct. 7. They will be selected for review via lottery after the deadline.
