HUDSON YARDS — The team behind a “radically flexible,” six-level arts venue heading to Hudson Yards is offering a virtual tour of the structure.
The Shed — which can “expand and contract by rolling [its] telescoping shell on rails” — will house two galleries with 25,000 square feet of “museum-quality space,” a 500-seat theater, rehearsal and event space, and a free experimental lab for artists when it opens in 2019, its website says.
Design studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro and architecture and design firm Rockwell Group have released a “fly through animation” of the 200,000-square-foot structure, which was first reported by The Real Deal.

When the city first presented the “Hudson Yards Culture Shed” to Community Board 4 back in 2013, board members expressed fears that the venue could become a smaller-scale version of the Javits Center.
The center is currently under construction on West 30th Street between 10th and 11th avenues, according to its website.
