HELL'S KITCHEN — A pedestrian was struck and killed on the West Side Highway early Sunday after climbing over a divider and walking into oncoming traffic, police said.

Officers responding to a call about a pedestrian struck found the body of a 22-year-old man near West 46th Street around 2:15 a.m., unconscious and unresponsive, police said.

He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD. The man's identity has not been released, pending family notification.

Police said the unidentified man hopped the divider on the West Side Highway and walked into oncoming traffic, where he was hit by a car traveling northbound.

The driver remained at the scene, and an investigation by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing, police said.
