QUEENS — Kew Gardens cat lovers unite!

Neighborhood feline owners will soon have a chance to meet one another thanks to pictures of their pets displayed in an exhibit at a local doggie day care.

Residents can snap a picture of their cat, send it in and have it displayed during the "Cat Nights" exhibit in the fall at Dog Days and Cat Nights at 118-25 Metropolitan Ave., organizers said.

“Take a photo of your cat being curious, graceful, mischievous, adventurous, aloof, engaged, content or just being a perfect catty cat!," an event flier reads.

Last year, the day care put together a similar exhibit featuring dozens of pictures of local dogs, but switched to felines this year after they got numerous emails from cat owners asking for one for their pets.

"There are so many cat owners in this neighborhood," said Joseph Martinez, owner of Dog Days and Cat Nights. “The rule of thumb is that for every dog you see there are two cats behind it."

All pictures sent in will be displayed because “everyone’s cat is wonderful,” said Carol Lacks, one of the organizers, who already received numerous pictures of neighborhood felines.

"The dog pictures were adorable but the cat ones are really funny,” she said. "Cats have a lot of personality."

Martinez said that he expects "different levels of photography."

"Some people take it very seriously and take really nice shots of their cats, others will just show the comedic part of their cats, and the average person would maybe snap a picture with their phone," he said.

While the dog exhibit was organized during the day, the cat show will be held in the evening because felines are more nocturnal, organizers said.

Those interested in participating should email one photo in JPEG format to kewgardensarts@gmail.com by Aug. 20. Cat owners should include their name, their pet’s name and an optional one-line caption. The opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 2 from 3 to 7 p.m.
