FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Supermarket giant Whole Foods is headed to Wall Street.
The chain will open a three-floor, 44,000 square-foot store at One Wall Street, a 50-story art deco skyscraper that's being converted into a luxury condo tower, the building's developer, Macklowe Properties, announced Thursday.
The storefront is slated to open in 2018, the Commercial Observer first reported.
Whole Foods has had a nearby TriBeCa location since 2008 — the new Financial District location has long been rumored.
“We’ve long enjoyed serving the downtown community at our TriBeCa location, but look forward to expanding our reach and bringing Whole Foods Market closer to home for area residents, workers and visitors,” said Christina Minardi, regional president for Whole Foods Market’s Northeast region in a statement.
