EAST VILLAGE — A thief left a woman tied up in the lobby of her apartment building after stealing her belongings early Wednesday morning, police said.

The man followed the 33-year-old victim into her apartment building at 13th Street and Avenue B at about 3 a.m., then told her he had a gun and demanded her property, police said.

The woman handed over her cell phone, debit card, jewelry, and $35 in cash, police said.

The thief then told her to lie face down on the ground and tied her hands behind her back before fleeing in an unknown direction, according to authorities.

Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect, who is described as a man between 30 and 40-years-old, 5-foot 10-inches tall and weighing 225 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, black jeans, a black baseball cap and a black backpack, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
