HARLEM — A neighborhood man who crept through the bedroom window of an 8-year-old girl and tried to rape her was arrested and charged Thursday for the attack, police said.
Juan Barresto, 27, who lives on the victim's block, climbed into her apartment on East 108th Street near First Avenue on July 7 about 11 p.m. as she slept in her bed, the NYPD said.
Barresto was charged with attempted rape, burglary and endangering the welfare of a child.
The girl woke up to find the man trying to sexually assault her, police said. He fled the room through a bedroom window and ran down a rear fire escape.
