ROOSEVELT ISLAND — The Roosevelt Island Bridge will be closed on Friday for routine maintenance.
Starting at 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. on July 29, the bridge will be closed intermittently for 15 minutes at a time to test the bridge's lift system. Each time, the bridge will be completely closed, according to the Department of Transportation.
The bridge, which was opened in 1955, provides connection to motorists and pedestrians over the east channel of the East River to Astoria.
