Man Gropes, Punches Woman in Face in East Village Saturday, Police Say

MANHATTAN — A man groped a woman in the East Village early Saturday morning and then punched her in the face when she confronted him, according to the NYPD.

The man grabbed a 37-year-old woman’s buttocks while she was on First Avenue near 13th Street at about 1:45 a.m. on July 23, police said.  

She then approached him and the man punched her in the face and continued to attack her while she was on the ground, according to security video.

The woman was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, an NYPD spokesman said.

The suspect fled north on First Avenue.

Police said he is in his early 20s and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 140 pounds.
