Man Groped 2 Women in Astoria Within Minutes of Each Other, Police Say

ASTORIA — Police are searching for a suspect who groped two women in Queens last week, grabbing one victim and then assaulting the second a short distance away just minutes later, according to the NYPD.

The man approached a 25-year-old woman from behind shortly after midnight July 21 on 46th Street near 31st Avenue, where he pushed her up against a car and touched her over her clothes. He ran off when the victim yelled, police said.

Just three minutes later, the suspect attacked a 26-year-old woman at 45th Street and Newtown Road, where he wrapped his arms around the victim and groped her, police said. He fled south on 45th Street after the woman screamed for help.

The suspect, who was captured on surveillance footage, is described as being in his 20s, standing between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-5, and wearing a light blue T-shirt, black pants and black sneakers, officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
