MANHATTAN — A man was arrested Friday for trying to rape an unconscious woman lying on the street in the Lower East Side early Wednesday morning, police said.

The suspect is 45-year-old Sean Walker of South Jamaica, Queens, police said. He was charged with sex abuse.

Walker, who can be seen in surveillance video released by police Friday, was talking to the drunk 21-year-old woman near Suffolk and Stanton streets about 3 a.m. when she slipped into unconsciousness, sources said.

He then stripped off his pants and underwear and lay atop her, NYPD officials said.

Walker was trying to take off her shorts when a woman passing by stopped to yell at him, scaring him off, police said.

The unconscious woman was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel where she was treated and released, officials said.
