CRIME BLOTTER: $860 in Panties Stolen From Victoria's Secret

PARK SLOPE — A 25-year-old woman was arrested after stealing 66 pairs of panties and six containers of body spray from the Victoria's Secret at Atlantic Terminal Mall on July 13, according to a police report.

A store security guard spotted the woman leaving the shop with the items, which were worth $1,074, according to the report.

Other recent crimes in the 78th Precinct include the following, with all details drawn from police reports:

A 41-year-man was arrested for assault after he got into a fight with a homeowner who thought the man was "acting suspicious like a burglar lookout." The homeowner saw the man leaning against his house's front gate on Ninth Street and Fourth Avenue at 1 a.m. on July 11. When the homeowner questioned the man about why he was leaning on the gate, the man punched him in the nose. A search revealed that the man was carrying burglar's tools.

Someone keyed a 2013 Hyundai Genesis and scratched the word “Fack” into the hood while it was parked on President Street near Fourth Avenue on July 11 about 5 p.m. The car’s 39-year-old owner told police he didn’t know why someone would vandalize his vehicle and said that he hadn’t been involved in any arguments with anyone.

A 63-year-old man had $800 in cash and about $100 in tools stolen from his 2010 Toyota Matrix while he was working on Seventh Avenue and President Street on July 12.

A 55-year-old man had his Honda motorcycle stolen at about 5:45 a.m. on July 11 while he was working for Con Edison near First Street and Denton Place.

Packages of unspecified value were stolen from inside a residential building on Eighth Avenue and Third Street on July 10 about 5:35 p.m.

Overall, major crime in the 78th Precinct has dropped 14 percent this year compared to the same period in 2015, according to the most recent statistics from the NYPD. There were 401 major crimes reported between Jan. 1 and July 10, 2016, and 466 major crimes during that period in 2015.
