MOTT HAVEN — The 7-month-old girl whose mother abducted her during an unsupervised visit at a South Bronx foster care site Wednesday was found in Brooklyn hours later, police said.

The girl's 30-year-old mother had been visiting her at the New York Foundling's 170 Brown Pl. site around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday when she walked out of the building with her, according to the NYPD.

The child is now safe with her foster family, according to the New York Foundling.

The mother was not being monitored during her visit, and it was unclear if the visit was supposed to be supervised, police said.

The Administration for Children's Services said in a statement that it was "relieved" police had located the child but did not respond to questions about the disciplinary history of the site where she was abducted.
