Drunk Driver With Car Full Of Kids Crashes into Pole, NYPD Says

STATEN ISLAND — A driver was arrested for driving drunk after he crashed a car full of kids and an 11-month-old girl, critically injuring all of them, in Staten Island on Monday afternoon, police said.

Norman Williams, 35, lost control of his car and slammed into a wooden pole at 338 Fingerboard Road about 4:29 p.m., according to an NYPD spokesman.

A 33-year-old woman, 11-year-old girl, 9-year-old girl, 3-year-old girl and 11-month-old girl were all in the car at the time of the crash, police said.

All of the victims were taken to Staten Island North Hospital in critical but stable condition, officials said.

Williams, of Clifton, was also treated at the hospital where he was arrested and faced charges of vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated with a child in the car, police said.
