CHELSEA — A woman suffered chemical burns after a stranger threw an unknown liquid at her on the street, the NYPD said.

The 40-year-old victim, from Queens, was walking near the northwest corner of West 26th Street and 12th Avenue around 10 p.m. on July 8 when two women she didn’t know walked past her, police said.

One of the women threw an unknown liquid at her back, the NYPD said.

Thinking it was just water, the woman kept walking to a train station, police said.

Once on the train, the woman’s face and lower back started to burn, she told police.

She checked into Elmhurst Hospital Center, where a doctor informed her she was suffering from a chemical burn, the NYPD said.

Police had not arrested anyone in connection with the incident as of Wednesday.

Other notable crimes in this week’s blotter from the 10th Precinct in Chelsea include:

► A 34-year-old woman from Manhattan was walking near the northeast corner of West 42nd Street and Dyer Avenue around 11 a.m. on July 6 when she saw a woman attack two people, police said. When the witness asked the woman why she’d attacked them, the woman punched her in the face. The 34-year-old was transported to Lower Manhattan Hospital after the attack.

► A man stole a $2,000 Macbook, a $700 iPhone 6s, a $200 Apple watch and a $200 iPad Mini from a building at 450 W. 33rd St. around 7 a.m. on July 4, the NYPD said. The man loitered in the building after telling a security guard he was “waiting for his friend for coffee,” and jumped a turnstile when a security personnel change was taking place. After riding the elevator upstairs, surveillance video shows him walking around on three different floors.
