UPPER EAST SIDE — A 15-story apartment building with retail is set to replace a townhouse three doors down from former Mayor Michael Bloomberg's mansion, according to plans filed with the city.

The 232-foot tower, at 27 E. 79th St., a block away from Central Park, will include three apartments, four duplexes and one triplex on the top floors, according to the plans filed by developer Adellco LLC on July 8.

There will also be room for retail on the ground floor, an exercise room and bike parking in the basement, the plans show.

The site is currently home to a 5-story townhouse, which is now vacant. Adellco bought the property on April 4 for $28 million, city records show.

Before that, it belonged to investor Orin Portnoy who bought it from Thomas Reynolds for $15.7 million, according to The Real Deal.

HTO Architect, which designed 1055 Park in Carnegie Hill, is the firm selected to design the new building.

Adellco declined to comment, saying they didn't have any additional information and HTO did not immediately respond to questions on Wednesday.
