BROOKLYN — You may need to catch 'em all sooner than you think.

Assemblyman Felix Ortiz is considering introducing legislation on Pokémon Go, calling it a risk to public safety as droves of players tune into the app and wander the streets, he confirmed in an email to DNAinfo New York on Wednesday morning.

"Every single one of us who might want to play this game have to be very cautious. Who’s sending what, and what is the follow up?," Ortiz told Politico New York, which first reported the possible bill.

"Everyone should be cautious to make sure that no intruders will be able to tap into this and have people think they’re going to the park when in reality they’re going to a be targeted by some rapist. People could think they’re going to the bank, but in reality, someone is waiting to take their money.”

Some media outlets report the game has been used to commit crimes.

Politico also reported that Ortiz was worried about pedestrian and vehicular safety as the game is meant to be played while walking or moving around.

Ortiz did not immediately respond when asked to clarify how the bill would pertain to Pokémon Go.
