MARINERS HARBOR — A cab driver broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment, slashed her and stabbed her current boyfriend in the leg three times, prosecutors said.

Jose Perez, 29, broke into his ex-girlfriend's Van Name Avenue apartment on Saturday at  8:10 a.m. while she was at work, prosecutors said.

When she returned home, Perez was waiting inside her apartment wearing gloves and he cut her on the right wrist with a knife, prosecutors said.

Perez then stabbed the woman's current boyfriend in the right leg three times, which caused a gash needing 20 stitches, prosecutors said.

Perez was arrested and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, burglary and criminal mischief, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.

His bail was set at $150,000 and he's due back in court on Thursday, according to online court records.

He previously pleaded guilty to possession of a forged instrument in 2009 and was sentenced to 60 days in prison, according to court documents.

Perez's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
