HARLEM — A man broke into an 8-year-old girl's home and tried to rape her as she slept in her bed, police said.
The 20-year-old man broke into the victim's apartment in East Harlem Thursday night at about 11 p.m., the NYPD said.
The girl woke up to find the man trying to sexually assault her, police said. He fled the room through a bedroom window and ran down a rear fire escape.
Police said the victim was not injured.
Police provided a sketch of the man, who was described as having shoulder-length black hair and acne-scarred skin.
