ASTORIA — A suicidal woman was killed Sunday night after jumping from the Astoria Boulevard subway station platform onto the Grand Central Parkway, where she was struck by a car whose driver fled the scene, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call of a woman laying on the ground in the eastbound lane of the Grand Central Parkway near exit 5 shortly before 11 p.m., officials said.

Police determined that the woman had jumped from the elevated train station platform at Astoria Boulevard and 31st Street, landing on the parkway below, where she was struck by a car traveling east, according to the NYPD. The car then drove off.

The woman — who has yet to be identified — was pronounced dead at the scene with severe body trauma, police said.

Eastbound lanes of the parkway near Astoria Boulevard were shut down and N trains were bypassing the train station for about an hour after the incident, according to updates on the Office of Emergency Management and MTA's Twitter accounts.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating, police said.
