QUEENS — The Rego Park Applebee’s that served the area for 13 years closed recently after losing its lease, the chain said.

The chain restaurant, at 95-25 Queens Blvd., closed on May 19 because the landlord did not offer the space a lease renewal, an Applebee's spokeswoman told DNAinfo New York.

A note taped to the front door of the eatery also read “Lost Our Lease" and "Thank you for being great neighbors since 2003.”

The note also informed patrons about two other nearby Applebee's locations — at Queens Center at 90-15 Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst and in Fresh Meadows at 61-48 188th St. — where all staff from the Rego Park location had been relocated, according to the message.

It was not immediately clear why the restaurant was not given the option to renew.

The landlord, Queens Office Tower, said, however, that “the lease ended under very amicable terms.”
