Dolce Brooklyn is the neighborhood’s newest sweet shop serving house-made sorbets and gelatos. The eatery will be serving 12 flavors, including standard and rotating ones, such as “fior di latte,” hazelnut, strawberry cheesecake and ricotta honey. Eventually, the owners plan to add savory flavors, such as avocado and parmesan.

Its owner Angela Gerdrum, who grew up on a cattle ranch, decorated her restaurant with her family’s old saloon and paintings of the old west.

Asian bakery Violet’s Bake Shoppe just expanded its offerings to introduce banh mi, or Vietnamese sandwiches. Patrons can choose from 10 kinds of banh mi sandwiches, such as grilled minced pork, baked flounder fish, pate and lemongrass chicken. There are also two vegan options. The sandwiches cost between $5.50 and $6.95.
