BUSHWICK — A man catcalling to women on the street from his car on the Fourth of July was shot in the chest and wounded, police said.

The gunman, who pulled his weapon from the purse of a woman he was walking with, seems to have taken offense at the remarks and fired into the car stopped at the light at the corner of Chauncey Street and Broadway about 9 a.m., striking the 22-year-old victim, according to the NYPD.

He was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Police released video of the shooter and his accomplice, hoping a witness will come forward and help them track down the man and women behind the attack.

The man was shown on the surveillance tape wearing a black and blue hooded sweatshirt, tan pants and white sneakers. The woman last had a pink baseball hat on and a black T-shirt.

The Bushwick shooting happened an hour before another similar incident nearby where an 18-year-old was shot five times in the chest after he called out to a woman on the street as he drove past.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
