THE BRONX — A 5-year-old boy was critically injured after falling out of the fifth-floor window of a Claremont Village apartment Tuesday evening, according to officials and law enforcement sources.

The boy fell from 1415 Bristow St., near East 170th Street, at 7:38 p.m., officials said.

The unconscious child was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition, according to an FDNY spokesman and sources.

The boy's mother was home at the time of the incident and told investigators there was a window guard installed, sources told DNAinfo New York

Muhammed Touray, who works at the Boston Road Halal Meat and Grocery Market across the street from the building, said he saw a commotion after the boy fell.

"People are feeling bad," Touray said.

The investigation is ongoing.
