Getz was lauded in an email by District 2 Superintendent Bonnie Laboy as "an exceptional school leader" with "a proven track record."

In her five years at MAT, Getz "focused on refining the math and social studies curricula, integrating the arts, developing rich student discourse, and strengthening family involvement," Laboy wrote.

Getz has been in education for three decades, working as an assistant principal at P.S. 234 and a principal at P.S. 290, according to Laboy's email, as well as as a staff developer in the Teachers’ College Reading and Writing Project and as a literacy consultant.

"Jacqui’s core values focus on celebrating diversity, life-long learning, curiosity and creativity," Laboy wrote. "[Her] leadership is guided by a belief that students learn best through inquiry and project-based learning."

The Department of Education did not respond to requests for comment.
